Lab Metal
Alvin Products, division of Dampney Company Inc., is a manufacturer of specialty repair and maintenance products. With the invention of Lab Metal, a unique one-part metal dent filler, in 1950, Alvin Products became a household name. Through exposure to air, the paste hardens into metal allowing users to fill dents and flaws in metal and nonmetal parts quickly and economically. Lab metal requires no special tools and can be applied directly from the can with a putty knife or similar tools. While other products require two-component mixing or measuring, Alvin Lab Metal eliminates any waste while providing a durable metal surface that hardens without heat. Its strong bond adheres well to clean or dry metal, wood, glass, plaster, porcelain and hard plastic surfaces while also being able to withstand vibration and temperatures up to 350° F. As an extreme temperature alternative, Alvin Products also offers a Hi-Temp Lab Metal solution for applications reaching 1,000° F. Water resistant and rustproof, Lab Metal can be milled, drilled, tapped, ground and sanded smooth.
