Vibra-Tite Retaining Compounds
Retaining Compounds are adhesives that are used to secure bearings, bushings, gears and cylindrical parts onto housings or shafts. A standard method for assembling press-fit and slip-fitted parts, the liquid anaerobic material fills the voids between close-fitting metal parts and cures to a toughened thermoset-plastic which creates a solid one piece assembly. Once cured, they provide a physical and chemical barrier that enables the elimination of fretting corrosion, oxidation and galvanic corrosion. Products such as Vibra-Tite anaerobic retaining compounds are engineered to increase shear strength on non-threaded cylindrical metal assemblies resulting in lower assembly and maintenance costs due to stress from high loads.
